There are 14 cards in total, but only 10 were still here for there photo shoot ;- ) The cards for the guys all use the same pattern paper, while I use a few different pattern papers on the ones for the gals.<br />
<br />
The image is from <a href="http://www.bugaboostamps.com/" target="_blank"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Bugaboo</span> Digi Stamp</span> </a>and I won it during a blog hop from Cely (<a href="http://creatingincarolina.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Creating in Carolina</a>) back during Christmas in July. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">colored</span> it <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">digitally</span>, which sure makes making multiples easy ;- ) and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">cut</span> them out with the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">large</span> oval <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">nestability</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">pattern papers</span> are all from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">DCWV Holiday Collection Christmas Stack</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">mats</span> are a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Bazzil</span> paper from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Archiver</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">ribbon</span> was <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">scavenged</span> from boxes of Godiva Chocolates over many years ;- ) (Yea! Hubby) I used <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Viva Decor Pearl Pens</span>, to add the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">pearl dots</span>, on the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span>, which is from<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> Hero Arts Big Hugs</span> (<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">stamped</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Tumbled Glass Distress Ink</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">clear embossed</span>) and also <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sickles</span> on the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">hearts</span> for the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f9cb9c;">gal cards</span>, but only <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Stardust</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">pens</span> by Sakura to the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">hearts</span> on the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">guy cards</span>. Oh, and of course there is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">inking</span>! The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">oval</span> for the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> was cut on the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Cricut</span> using the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Gypsy</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Accent Essentials,</span> after making sure the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">keep proportions was unchecked</span>. A friend came over the first day and helped me cut our all of the images, mats, paper and card bases, so a special shout-out to Diana for her help!!!! Her daughter will get her card this week ;- )<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8PpGOd-ue9w/T12R255jTkI/AAAAAAAAA4Q/M_1By2kpXkE/s1600/IMG_6674.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8PpGOd-ue9w/T12R255jTkI/AAAAAAAAA4Q/M_1By2kpXkE/s320/IMG_6674.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rNt_yRGMEf4/T12SDKP8ShI/AAAAAAAAA4Y/NC4-fwYlezw/s1600/IMG_6677.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rNt_yRGMEf4/T12SDKP8ShI/AAAAAAAAA4Y/NC4-fwYlezw/s320/IMG_6677.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
On the first cards, which went out before I took photos, I used pattern paper on the inside, but realized that the sentiment inside covered so much, that it was a waste, so I then just used more of the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Bazzil card stock</span> to <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">mat</span> the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">fonts</span> in the sentiment are <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">LD Penelope</span> (from Lettering Delights) and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Kingthings Christmas</span> (the snowy font, available as a freebie <a href="http://www.fontspace.com/kingthings/kingthings-christmas" target="_blank">Here</a> or at dafont, but dafont was down for maintenance when I went to link to them.) I had added a post-it to the cocoa, because it required the addition of milk instead of water and I wanted to be sure they noticed that. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">embossed</span> a stamp from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Inkadinkadoo's</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Warm Holiday Wishes</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">silver glitter finish</span>.<br />

Sorry, about the photo, but the sun came out from behind the clouds and I usually photo after the sun is well past this window, but they needed to get into their envelopes. I created eveloboxes with The Ultimate Crafter's Companion for each of these cards (sorry, I didn't photo them), so there was enough room for them to fit. My son said his college treated his card like a package and sent him an e-mail when it arrived and he had to pick it up from the package person.<br />
<br />
Hope your week is full of inspiration and warm weather. We are expecting great weather here ;- ) Thanks for stopping by and I'd appreciating hearing from you! Your comments mean so much to me. Feel free to ask me any questions too!</div>Debbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07057595778538598247noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2196243810043152490.post-66948507397665228882012-03-06T23:41:00.000-06:002012-03-06T23:41:24.118-06:00Mickey Birthday wish.<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> Still haven't finished all of those college cards, but I'm getting closer, ha ha (another one has gone out the door - see I'm getting there.) However, I do have a card for today and a finishing touch on another. I thought it might help for some inspiration on finishing the inside of cards, which can be a stumper at times ;- )<br />
<br />
First up is everyones favorite Mickey Mouse. This card is for my neighbor's grandson, who is turning 3. I used the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Mickey image</span> from the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Mickey and Friends cartridge</span> (the<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> fourth key</span>) and all it's layers at <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">3.5 inches</span>. I set it all up on my <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Gypsy</span> so I could position my pieces precisely, because my mat is currently only sticky in some spots >.< I need to clean and re-stick a few of them, since I do have more than 1 not-very-sticky mat. The Gypsy however lets me decide where I want each piece to cut and place a few of them in those exact spots. Very helpful. I also used the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Gypsy</span> to <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">weld</span> the letters for the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> from the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Plantin Schoolbook </span>cartridge which does have a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">shadow</span> font for it's <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">main font</span> (nice touch!) The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">blue card stock</span> was <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">embossed</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sizzix's Texture Plates #2 Square Dancers</span>.<br />

On the inside I used <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Lettering Delight's</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">font LD Walt</span>. Using <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Print Shop,</span> I set up the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> first in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">red</span> and then in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">black</span> and laid one over the other to give it a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">shadow</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">signature</span> is in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Helvetica</span>, which I thought I'd changed to something else, but evidently not, ha ha on me. You can find a link to Lettering Delight on my sidebar. I cut out the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">number 3</span> from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Plantin Schoolbook</span> with the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">basic font</span> and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">shadow</span> at <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">2 inches</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">popped</span> it up.<br />
<br />
Over the weekend, it was Parker's grandfather's birthday (he has his pilot's license.) Now I'd made his card back in Nov. for Crafter's Digital Art Center's Challenge at the time, but hadn't totally finished the inside. It is an easel card and here is the card and how it appeared then (this part still looks like this ;- ) You can find the details on this card <a href="http://beginner-cards-and-creativity.blogspot.com/2011/11/2-guy-cards-in-one-day-whoa.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />

Inside, I used <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">LD Chaplin, LD Lively</span> (for Good Times) and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">LD Wedding</span> (for the signature) from Lettering Delights for the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">fonts</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">plane graphic</span> comes from the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Print Shop software</span>. The details for the rest is at the same link as the front, since that was all done in November.<br />

As always, thanks for dropping by. I love hearing from you so much, so please leave a comment before you go ;- ) have a wonderful week!</div>Debbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07057595778538598247noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2196243810043152490.post-74148484639100826252012-02-28T22:25:00.000-06:002012-02-28T22:25:35.222-06:00Easel card for a challenge.<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> Hey, long time no see >.< Sorry about that. I <u>have</u> been working on a card for my college students and three have been mailed, but I forgot to take photos of them (hurrying to get those out the door, my son comes home on Friday, Yippeee!) Should have more of them done soon and then I'll post those (only 11 more to go, hee hee.) They are cocoa cards.<br />
<br />
Today's card is for the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Progressive Challenge</span> over at <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Crafter's Digital Art Center </span>(<a href="http://priscillastyles.ning.com/group/cdac-progressive-freebie-challenges?commentId=5856131%3AComment%3A816046&xg_source=msg_com_group#?=" target="_blank">here</a>.) This is the last leg of this group of the Progressive, so you can get in the next round, if you would like to join. We get they greatest images to work with and the next group is free as long as you use one from the current group in a project within the challenge period (usually 2 weeks.) The first group is free and if you missed the first group you can join in for $1 and as I said we will be starting with a new first group on March 1st.<br />
<br />
From the title, you can tell todays' card is also an <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">easel card</span> ;- ) You are a quick group! I used the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">image</span> provided by <a href="http://adayfordaisies.com/" target="_blank">A Day For Daises</a> which is perfect for a card for my best friend from grammar school's daughter. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">colored</span> in in<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> PhotoShop Elements</span>. The only thing fancy was a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">multi-bristle brush</span> you would find in the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Assorted Brushes</span> at the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">bottom left</span>. <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">It kind of looks like half a squiggly doodled spider</span>, LOL. I used that with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">hair highlights</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">lowlights</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">dabbed</span> or <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">stippled</span> with it on a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">base colored hair</span> to make the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">hair</span> look <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">more realistic</span>. I just kind of messed around with it until I got something I liked. You have to love that undo button. Only remember with doing this dabbing you can only undo so far (depending on how many levels of undo you have set) and you might dab a lot of times, if you use a small brush which will look better.<br />
<br />
The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">solid color papers</span> are from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Core'dinatiions</span> and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">pattern paper</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Paper Studio's Four Seasons</span> paper pack, which is available at Hobby Lobby and has so many great patterns. I cut the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">scalloped circle</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Quick Kutz Nesting Circle Dies</span>, but I cut the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">circle</span> with the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Martha Stewart Circle Cutter,</span> because I didn't want a circle as large as the one that came with the Quick Kutz set. For the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">oval sentiment</span> I used <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Nestabilities Large Oval</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Large Scalloped Oval</span>. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">inked</span> the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">card edges</span> and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">image</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Dusty Concord Distress Ink</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">image</span> also has some <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Tumbled Glass Distress Ink</span> on it. I wanted to know back some of the starkness of the white. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Hero Arts Sweet Wonderful You</span> and is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">stamped</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Tumbled Glass Distress Ink</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">ballet slippers with the bow</span> is a free <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">SVG</span> from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">SVG Cuts,</span> which I used <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sure Cuts A Lot 2</span> and my <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Expression</span> to cut. They have lots of free images and the ballet slippers are still available <a href="http://svgcuts.com/blog/2010/05/07/free-svg-file-sure-cuts-a-lot-05-07-10-ballet-slippers/" target="_blank">here</a>. You can check out SVG Cuts <a href="http://www.svgcuts.com/" target="_blank">here</a>. There is a link to the Sure Cuts A Lot software on my sidebar. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">inked</span> the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">edges</span> of the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">ballet slippers and the bow</span> with a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Copic</span> to give it more <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">dimension</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">popped up the bow</span>.<br />

Thanks for fluttering by today. I'm really glad that you were here. I do love reading your comments. Please leave one before you go ;- ) Have a wonderfully creative week!</div>Debbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07057595778538598247noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2196243810043152490.post-22546632729357047742012-02-13T17:58:00.001-06:002012-02-13T18:07:44.257-06:00Progressing on in the Challenge ;- )<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> Today's card used the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">colored digital image</span> provided by <a href="http://happiscrappinstore.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Happi Scrappin Doddles</span></a> for the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Progressive Challenge</span> (#12) at <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Creative Digital Art Center</span> (CDAR) <a href="http://priscillastyles.ning.com/group/cdac-progressive-freebie-challenges?commentId=5856131%3AComment%3A810648&xg_source=msg_com_group#?=" target="_blank">here</a>. This is the last challenge in this round so you can join the next group of challenges for free, so head on over.<br />
<br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #ea9999;">Correction, this is only #11 and it will cost $1 to get in the next round because there is 1 round left before the next group of challenges, but the images are so wonderful, $1 is nothing, for such amazing images. So come and check them out ;- )</span><br />
<br />
I used the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">large scalloped oval</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">nestie</span> to cut the image and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">matted</span> it on <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">blue card stock</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">embossed</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Styalized Flowers by Sizzix</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">pearlized orange card stock</span> is by <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Crafter's Companion</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">butterfly, flower and leafy element</span> is an <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">SVG</span> from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> Images by Heather M</span>. She has many great freebies and you can find her <a href="http://imagesbyheatherm.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">here</a>. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">cut</span> it <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">twice</span> to get the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">butterfly</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">flowers</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">separate</span> and then added <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">stickles</span>, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Pearl Pen</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">gel ink</span> to the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">butterfly</span> as well as <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Me and My Big Ideas gems</span> to the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">flowers</span>. I also <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">inked</span> the image with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Spiced Marmalade distress ink.</span> I plan on sending this card to my aunt in order to just send her a little<br />
cheer ;- )<br />

You can find Sandi's blog and images <a href="http://sandisamples.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">here</a>. I decided to make this for a friend's daughter who didn't go away to college, so she doesn't usually get cards when I do my mailings to those away at college. I decided she could use a card too ;- ) My original vision was to paint the whole image with glitter and early on, I did some tests on that, but put it aside (which is never a good thing with me.) So here I am <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">coloring</span> in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">PhotoShop</span> (which I would have done anyway so there would be color under the glitter ;- ) I tried to stay true to my vision/inspiration and went over the part I had planned to use silver glitter on with the<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> Stardust glitter pen by Sakura</span>. I did <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">paint</span> the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">red hearts</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Martha Stewart glitter</span>. I used <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">black gel pen</span> on the purple balloon. I added red <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Martha Stewart twine</span> for the balloon strings. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">circle</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">scalloped circle </span>were cut with the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Quick Kuts die set </span>made to go with some of the Hero Arts stamps. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Hero Arts Sweet Wonderful You</span> and was embossed with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Red Dragon embossing powder </span>from Stampendous. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">inked</span> it with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Dusty Concord Distress ink.</span> The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">rick rack</span> was cut with a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">die</span> from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">The Scrapping Cottage</span>. Those of you with keen eyes will notice that I put the border on upside down >.< Just shows how things are going in my current state of craziness. I also should have rounded the corners.<br />

Thanks for stopping by two days in a row. I've have another progressive due on Mon. So I better get to work ;- ) Have a great rest of your weekend!</div>Debbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07057595778538598247noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2196243810043152490.post-28774760958627615202012-02-10T23:00:00.000-06:002012-02-10T23:00:03.445-06:00Valentine for a Techie<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> Well, I surface again <.< Today's card is a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">valentine</span> for my son. The sentiment was cut from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Cricut's Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art Cartridge</span>. I learned it's best to <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">size</span> for your <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">width</span> with this cart, because otherwise it goes very wide thinking you're making a cake (I was using the Gypsy, so I could see the size ahead of time), <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #cc0000;">but</span> when you <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">select the size</span> to cut the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">shadow</span>, be sure to <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">select relative</span>, but use the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">height number</span> of your cut to get the shadow to match your tip cut. The software is use to expecting things sized to height, so that's the way it computes the relative size. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">pattern paper</span> is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Paper Studio</span>. I actually made a mistake her and the sentiment and it's shadow are suppose to be reversed. They are suppose to mimic the colors and style of my son's computer as you will see on the inside.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-F4fEKVq1-rw/TzXvOQDupvI/AAAAAAAAA2Y/2aaHIDL7X0s/s1600/IMG_6514.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="215" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-F4fEKVq1-rw/TzXvOQDupvI/AAAAAAAAA2Y/2aaHIDL7X0s/s320/IMG_6514.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">SVG</span> on the inside is cut using <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sure Cuts A Lot</span> a a file from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Designs On Cloud 9 </span>called<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> Tech Toys</span>. The set also includes game controllers and an iPod. You can find the file <a href="http://www.designsoncloud9.com/category_16/2/Miscellaneous.htm" target="_blank">here</a> and check out some of there other cute files. They also have a free file each week!!! The papers are <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Bazzill</span> from Archiver's. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> on the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">computer screen</span> is also <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">welded</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">cut</span> using <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sure Cuts A Lot2</span> and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">font </span>is<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> Orbitron</span>. If you'd like the cut file, just let me know. The pattern paper is from Generation Tech by DCWV.<br />

<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">matted sentiment</span> on the bottom is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">printed digitally</span> using the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">same font</span>. I used <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">stickles</span> to <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">re-create</span> the look of his <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">speakers</span> and a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">white gel pen</span> to <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">mark</span> the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">keys</span> on the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">keyboard</span> that <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">spell, Valentine</span>. </div><div> I also added a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">tab</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">similar</span> to a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">pop-up card</span>, so that it allows the card to open and close properly and so that my son could set it on his desk in the open position and admire his computer look-alike, without the bottom of the computer flopping loose.</div><div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zKChsCAB1fw/TzXvC9EzYAI/AAAAAAAAA2Q/2ltXJoNbZnY/s1600/IMG_6512.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zKChsCAB1fw/TzXvC9EzYAI/AAAAAAAAA2Q/2ltXJoNbZnY/s320/IMG_6512.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div> Well, I also forgot to distress the white a bit, in my rush to get his package of goodies off to him at college. I think he'll like it though ;- ) Thanks for stopping by and giving me some of your precious time. Please, leave a comment before you go, I can use a boost. have a spectacular weekend!</div></div>Debbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07057595778538598247noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2196243810043152490.post-36937201441963301392012-02-02T18:00:00.000-06:002012-02-02T18:00:54.616-06:00My first step card and a second grandchild for a friend ;- )<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> Today's card is my very first step card. I made it for my friend's son and daughter-in law. They just had a new baby girl ;- ) This is their second child and her big brother is very excited too! I've known my friend since second grade and she is the Godmother of my son, so I thought I do something a little extra for her granddaughter. I used an <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">SVG</span> freebie file from Cheryl First at <a href="http://cafexpressions.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Cafexpressions</a> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sure Cuts A Lot</span> to cut the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">base</span> of the card and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">trim</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">around the steps</span> on my <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Expression</span>. She no longer offers it free, but has it for $1.50 and you can find it <a href="http://cafexpressions.blogspot.com/2010/08/new-step-card-file-baby.html" target="_blank">here</a>. Her original also has stars and a rocking horse that I didn't use.<br />
<br />
I used my <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Cricut Imagine</span> to <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">print</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">cut</span> the scene with the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">lamb</span> (printed and cut in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">layers</span>) from the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Nursery Tales</span> cartridge. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">popped up</span> most of the layers. I also <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">printed</span> the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">paper</span> I used for the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">base</span> from that <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">same cartridge</span> on the Imagine, before cutting it with the Expression and Sure Cuts A Lot. (I only cut it at the size of <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">6 inches by 9 inches</span>, not a full size sheet, because that was all I'd need.) The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">paper</span> used for the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">edging on the steps</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Nursery Tales</span> as well. That's one of the nice things about the Imagine. You can print the coordinating paper you need to go with the images you are using.<br />
<br />
The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Hallmark Cards</span> and was given to me by my neighbor. I thought it went well with the card. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">rose</span> is by <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Prima</span>. Now I'd like your help. Do you like the turtle here? Here's a larger one from the lamb scene. I'm having trouble deciding (probably the slight headache I have), so I can use your opinion. Let, me know what you think. He's only attached with re-positional adhesive, so I can take him off ;- ) It could be his size or that I changed the ink cartridge and he's darker than the lamb.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RxkNlUBHrTA/TysgzHxp55I/AAAAAAAAA1w/MVvA6_iJBOQ/s1600/IMG_6470.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-RxkNlUBHrTA/TysgzHxp55I/AAAAAAAAA1w/MVvA6_iJBOQ/s320/IMG_6470.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8wt_WpfbZ8c/Tysg-IRdsVI/AAAAAAAAA14/7EXqGGwSCV0/s1600/IMG_6478.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8wt_WpfbZ8c/Tysg-IRdsVI/AAAAAAAAA14/7EXqGGwSCV0/s320/IMG_6478.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
So there you go. My first step card ;- ) Have a great early weekend. You can join this series for $1 <a href="http://priscillastyles.ning.com/group/cdac-progressive-freebie-challenges?commentId=5856131%3AComment%3A805380&xg_source=msg_com_group#?=" target="_blank">here</a> and as long as you participate, the next set of images are free. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">colored</span> the image in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">PhotoShop Elements</span> and got the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">reflective effect</span> on the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">glasses</span> by using the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">plastic wrap effect</span> that's available in the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Filters</span> in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">PhotoShop</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">print fabric</span> was made by using the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Abstract Flower brush</span> which comes in PhotoShop. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">background paper</span> is<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> Jenni Bowlin's Brown and Cream Collection from Core Impressions</span>. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sanded</span> it to bring out the design. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> was done <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">digitally</span> in PhotoShop as well using the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">font</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">SNF Jester Curls</span>. You can find Scrap N Fonts <a href="http://www.scrapnfonts.com/" target="_blank">here</a>. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">inked</span> both the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">image</span> and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> (the sentiment more heavily) to knock down the whiteness of the paper with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Tea Dye Distress Ink</span>. I think this will make a great gift for a friend, shhhh ;- )<br />

You can find Anne's blog <a href="http://annescards4u.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">here</a>. I colored the image in PhotoShop Elements. I added appropriate romantic titles to the book spines (<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">fonts</span> are Love Store in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Nickelodeon</span>, Love Poems in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">SNF Infinity</span> and Sonnets in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">SNF Sunday Alternate</span> - Nickelodeon (a freebie) can be found <a href="http://www.dafont.com/nickelodeon-tv.font" target="_blank">here</a> and Scrap n Fonts can be found <a href="http://www.scrapnfonts.com/" target="_blank">here</a> (about $5, but they go on sale)) and added <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">artwork</span> using <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">PhotoShop brushes</span> that I'd picked up as <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">freebies</span>. The one on the top book (which is hard to see and you might want to click the photo to make it bigger to see any of this ;- ) is from the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Heart brush set by Pop the bubble wrap</span>, the middle book (on the spine) <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Heart brushes by Cassie</span> and the bottom one by <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Hero Arts at 2peas Background stone etchings</span>. The best way to find them would be to google Photoshop brushes + hearts or do browse over at Brusheeezy or deviantART. I added <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Diamond Lace stickles</span> to the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">heart</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">square mat</span> was sprayed with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Crafters Companion Spray and Sparkle Iridescent Glitter Varnish</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">pattern paper</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Paper Studio</span>. I experimented at the bottom and used a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">scalloped circle die</span> from Quick Kutz to cut the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">edge</span>. I added some card stock to the area above where I didn't want it cut, in case I went to far when I put it throughout the Big Kicks. I had just wanted a softer end on the bookmark.<div><br />
</div><div> The nice thing about doing the image digitally is that I can make multiples. I'm thinking of using this to make some note cards for my librarian friend, with maybe a change of titles. She works in a school library, so I'll change them to children's lit ;- ) This one is for me though.<br />

I had already used the gypsy to make the file for a shaped card of a penguin using the Create a Critter cartridge. She said she thought the penguin would look cute with a hat, so we added a hat from the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge. It is the headwear for the winter girl. We cut the hat twice in both pink and white and paper pieced it and added Martha Stewart glitter. My friend had brought the paper, so I'm not sure what we used. We added wiggle eyes to the face. We hid all contours on the cuts on the Gypsy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wa8469WyBn8/TyIJOPiEWyI/AAAAAAAAA1A/gP8QNIVBEHU/s1600/IMG_6445.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wa8469WyBn8/TyIJOPiEWyI/AAAAAAAAA1A/gP8QNIVBEHU/s320/IMG_6445.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
By the time we got to the inside, we were really pressed for time if we were going to go to lunch and she was going to make it to school on time to pick up her son (ok we were pressed for time throughout it all ;- ) We had some Church website things to work on before we were able to work on the card to begin with. Sooo, we cut out the body again as a mat for the sentiment. We used Printshop to create a sentiment using Calibri and NewWGL4 <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">as the fonts<span class="Apple-style-span">. </span>Then, I test cut another body piece in order to get the placement and lined up the piece with the sentiment on it and put it on the mat and by a wondrous act of God, my sentiment was cut in the cent of the body ;- ) We also cut a balloon from Create a Critter (it's the shift of the snake) and the number 2, because she's advanced and can recognize her numbers according to her dotting Auntie (from Birthday Bash.) </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1FE9OVghdfY/TyIJZnUja0I/AAAAAAAAA1I/983J-plby9k/s1600/IMG_6448.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1FE9OVghdfY/TyIJZnUja0I/AAAAAAAAA1I/983J-plby9k/s320/IMG_6448.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> I thought of a few things I might change or enhance as we went, but we didn't have time, so I might have to CASE myself soon, ha ha. I think a know a young boy who likes penguins, at least he did last year. You may be seeing the updated version of this card in a month or so ;- ) If you'd like the Gypsy file for this, just let me know (with a way to get in touch with you) and I'd be happy to send it to you.</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> Thanks for stopping by. Your comments mean so much to me, so if you have time, please leave me one. Have a great weekend!</span></div>Debbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07057595778538598247noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2196243810043152490.post-21035041536681115642012-01-25T00:00:00.000-06:002012-01-25T00:00:09.951-06:00A Simple Gift Bag.<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> I needed to make a gift bag for a gift (yes, it's a Christmas gift, still - it was something that was ordered and didn't come until after my friend and I got our families together for Christmas - OK - don't you judge me ;- ) and the Cricut didn't have a file for one that was large enough, so I checked the Internet and this was what I came up with. It's really simple, but since I looked it up, I thought I'd share it with you and maybe save you some time. I found this template from the About.com people and you can find all of their directions <a href="http://rubberstamping.about.com/od/templates/ss/GiftBag.htm" target="_blank">here</a>. They have a template there that you can print out and it looks like this.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IanN-6Psl28/Tx-TWWhvm8I/AAAAAAAAA04/nPqF2J3IeP4/s1600/box_bag+template.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="226" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IanN-6Psl28/Tx-TWWhvm8I/AAAAAAAAA04/nPqF2J3IeP4/s320/box_bag+template.jpg" width="320" /></a></div> It shows the measurements in units, so that you can make the back about any size. This will make the front and back twice the size as the sides. (You can click on the image to enlarge it.) Since I wanted to make as large a bag as I could from a 12 inch sheet of card stock 2 inches was my basic unit. Now you may be saying, "Hey that doesn't divide out right!" Probably not, I don't do that kind of math in my head either, I would have just believed you, but it doesn't, because you need to leave that edge that is in grey in order to glue it. So, my <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sides</span> are <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">2 inches</span> (because I wanted the extra ease on the sides) and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">front</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">back</span> are <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">3 3/4</span> and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">extra 1/2 inch</span> is in the grey area used to <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">glue it together</span>. I just made that up to make the numbers work (it made more sense to me than have fractions all over the place and used the whole sheet of paper across.) I scored it on my Martha Stewart score board. It was <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">scored</span> up<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> 2 inches</span> from the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">bottom</span> as well, in order to make the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">bottom flaps </span>and that is how far up you cut from the bottom. I didn't use the whole sheets height, because my gift isn't that tall. I didn't take a photo of the scored bag, but here is a photo of the part that I had cut off of the top with the score marks.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aE810y0HFPE/Tx-Sk5MY55I/AAAAAAAAA0Q/2uIqSInF4ik/s1600/IMG_6416.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="177" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aE810y0HFPE/Tx-Sk5MY55I/AAAAAAAAA0Q/2uIqSInF4ik/s320/IMG_6416.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The bag was made with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">DCWV's Holiday Collection Christmas Stack</span> from last year. I used <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Terrifically</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Tacky</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">tape</span> down the side seam first (the smallest area on the right) first. Now remember, on the actual bag I cut on the score lines for 2 inches up on the bottom, to make my flaps. (the template never tells you what to do with the part in the grey are here. I cut it off.) I then folded them in to form the flaps, first the smaller side flaps and the the larger flaps and used the Terrifically Tacky Tape from Provo Craft to hold them together.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rbG0tOf2Bzg/Tx-SyIkdE3I/AAAAAAAAA0Y/9cG6grwOlkM/s1600/IMG_6418.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-rbG0tOf2Bzg/Tx-SyIkdE3I/AAAAAAAAA0Y/9cG6grwOlkM/s320/IMG_6418.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TPAfh9nfSak/Tx-S7EKjRfI/AAAAAAAAA0g/E0GYLZoqr_w/s1600/IMG_6424.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TPAfh9nfSak/Tx-S7EKjRfI/AAAAAAAAA0g/E0GYLZoqr_w/s320/IMG_6424.jpg" width="210" /></a></div><br />
Now from here you can decorate your bag any way you want. If you used plain paper and had wanted to stamp it, of course you would have done that while it was still flat ;- ) I thought about add some poinsettias that I had meant to make for Christmas, but didn't (don't judge...) but they wouldn't have gone with the paper I ended up using. In the end I decided jus to add a handle. I didn't have an eyelets that matched, but I knew the gift is light, so I just punched holes in the front and back of the bag and threaded some ribbon through and then knotted the ribbon.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-w63bR_s1HGc/Tx-THv4vQ3I/AAAAAAAAA0o/UEtZ2iwDST0/s1600/IMG_6430.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-w63bR_s1HGc/Tx-THv4vQ3I/AAAAAAAAA0o/UEtZ2iwDST0/s320/IMG_6430.jpg" width="226" /></a></div><br />
To keep the ribbon from twisting I added some discreet tape on the inside ;- )<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OvLGlRTEfdI/Tx-TVuMfHUI/AAAAAAAAA0w/v-2FlSl22AQ/s1600/IMG_6434.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OvLGlRTEfdI/Tx-TVuMfHUI/AAAAAAAAA0w/v-2FlSl22AQ/s320/IMG_6434.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
So, just switch this out with some valentine paper and fill it up for you sweetie <3 Thanks for stopping by and not judging me today. Please leave a comment before you rush on with your day. I really appreciate hearing from you! I'll be leaving christmas behind now!!!</div>Debbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07057595778538598247noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2196243810043152490.post-86844801929948924102012-01-21T22:54:00.001-06:002012-01-22T15:14:44.239-06:00Gift and sympathy.<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> Sorry, I would have posted sooner, but the coming snow brought me a cluster headache as well >.< The first thing I have to show you is a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">cupcake holder</span>, that is part of the packaging of a Christmas gift I made for a neighbor. Now we did exchange gifts after Christmas, but not this far after >.< I just used an SVG <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">freebie</span> from Heather at <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Images by Heather M</span>. You can find her post with the freebie <a href="http://imagesbyheatherm.wordpress.com/2010/02/26/cupcake-wrappers-with-bottoms/" target="_blank">here</a>. She has some nice freebies on her site. I used <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">SCAL2</span>, my <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Expression</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">K &Company's Peppermint Twist</span> card stock to cut the cupcake holder. I purchased some nice fluffy <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">footie socks</span> and rolled them up and put them in the cupcake holder and in the center, I put a<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> Mary Kay lip sunscreen</span> (my neighbor is taking a trip to Florida, lucky her since we just got 7 inches of snow.) I also included <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Mary Kay Mint Bliss Lotion</span> for Legs and Feet. This was all wrapped in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">cellophane</span> that I got at Michaels, which actually came with the tag. This would make a great Valentine gift if made with different card stock and cellophane.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uI1Y-S43Q10/TxuJciPIC6I/AAAAAAAAAzQ/4qFU-XZUOnc/s1600/IMG_6263.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uI1Y-S43Q10/TxuJciPIC6I/AAAAAAAAAzQ/4qFU-XZUOnc/s320/IMG_6263.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> There is some nice sparkle and gloss on this card stock that didn't show in the photos.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

The same neighbor had also lost her father and was going to have a memorial for him. I told my son she was leaving the next day and I was making a sympathy card for her. He was thinking of the Florida trip and he said, "That requires a sympathy card now?" LOL He knows I miss her when she's gone.<br />
<br />
The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">background</span> was <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">stamped</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">clear embossed</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Hero Arts Flowered Wallpaper</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">grey</span> card stock is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Core'dinations</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">ribbon</span> was something I had <strike>pack ratted</strike> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">repurposed</span> from something I don't remember. I cut the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">ovals</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">nestabilities</span> and the the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> was done <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">digitally</span> and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">font</span> is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">SNF Infinity</span>. You can Scrap n Fonts <a href="http://www.scrapnfonts.com/" target="_blank">here</a>. Infinity is a premium font, which means it has all of the font characters, including all of the symbols. You can get the bundle which includes the bold style as well for $8 right now. (I get nothing for saying this. I just think it's a pretty font.) The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">butterfly</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Jolee's Boutique Beautiful Butterflies</span> (the one on the inside as well.)<br />
<br />

<br />
The inside <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> was also done <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">digitally</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">font</span> here is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Harrington</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">stamp</span> used is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Hero Arts, with Color Blok ink</span> and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">papers</span> are <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Core'dinations</span>.<br />

I had to go to the Mary Kay Center the other day to pick up some product (yes, I'm a Mary Kay consultant and have been for a very long time.) We took the puppy, now 9 months old, with us, since we only had run in and out errands and we thought he could use a car trip. On our way back we spotted a herd of deer in a neighborhood by our library. Now I'm doing a photo or photos a day from my dogs point of view, so we happened to have the camera with us, so here's what we saw.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hndc47kz_k0/TxuTGhIqmoI/AAAAAAAAAz4/X2r89rMB68s/s1600/IMG_6366.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Hndc47kz_k0/TxuTGhIqmoI/AAAAAAAAAz4/X2r89rMB68s/s320/IMG_6366.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Very interested in the barking dog ;- )</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
And here is his self-photo from the day. My son thought it was pretty good, since Shadow doesn't have opposable thumbs ;- )<br />
<br />

It looks like I goofed up though. I thought both challenges had given us extra time due to the holidays, but it appears the deadline was Jan. 1st for this image and I missed it. Oh well, here is my card anyway. I used one of the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">cupcake</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">images</span> that <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Anne Fenton</span> created and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">colored</span> it in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Photoshop</span>. I paired it with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">2 patterned papers</span> from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Paper Studio</span> and added <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">ribbon</span> from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Michaels</span>. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">underlined</span> the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Happy Birthday</span> on the one paper with a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">white gel pen</span> and added an <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">embellishment</span> from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"><a href="http://www.creativecharms.com/" target="_blank">Creative Charms</a> </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #e06666;">(added - It's called Groovy Petals)</span> that Diane from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Capedia Designs</span> sent to me. You can find a link to her wonderful blog <a href="http://www.capadiadesign.com/" target="_blank">here</a> or on my side bar. I cut out <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Judy's</span> name using my <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Gypsy</span> and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Opposites Attract</span> cartridge. Now, Judy does read my blog and I'm kind of bummed that she is going to see her card, so I'm not going to show the inside. We're not going to question whether or not the inside got finished in time. We are just not going to go there. Let's just say, her birthday is still a ways away and I don't want to spoil the surprise. 'nuf said OK!<br />

Thanks for dropping by and please leave me some feedback or a kind word ;- ) Have a wonderful weekend!</div>Debbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07057595778538598247noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2196243810043152490.post-25084789974589336482012-01-14T19:00:00.002-06:002012-01-26T20:45:22.294-06:00Two posts in one day ;- )<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div style="text-align: left;"> Ha! bet you thought I wouldn't be back, well here I am and I will be posting twice because I have 2 challenge deadlines today (did I hear someone say, ahhh, that's why... hmmm.) Well, I've been busy playing scrabble and monopoly and going to the movies and just spending time with my family and friends, while my son was home. Then, there is always a let down after he returns to college. I'm suppose to use this blog and the card making to help me get past that, but I didn't fee like it, so there! I actually have been busy editing photos in Photoshop and I do have another card and a gift holder I made to show you, but I will keep those for maybe tomorrow. We don't want to overload you all in one day ;- )</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"> The first challenge is CDAC (Creative Digital Art Center). You'll find us <a href="http://priscillastyles.ning.com/group/cdac-progressive-freebie-challenges#?=" target="_blank">here</a>. I used the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">snow globe</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">image</span> from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Crafty Ann's</span> (only, wait, you can't see that yet.) They had provided a number of other nice images that you could pair with it, but since I have a friend whose birthday is coming up and she loves penguins (her name is Gwyn and that is how she explains to people how to pronounce her name correctly, not Gwen), I figured I'd use <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Meljen's Penguin's Little Letter image</span> to go with it. This will fit her challenge "Anything Goes" so I'll enter it there too ;- ) The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">images</span> were <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">colored</span> in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Photoshop</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">black</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">card stock</span> is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Core'dinations Black Magic</span> and is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">embossed</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sizzix's snowflakes</span>. I cut the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">hole</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Martha's circle cutter</span>. I set up the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">words</span> and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">heart</span> on the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Gypsy</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">letters</span>, except for birthday, are from the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Cricut</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Plantin Schoolbook</span> cartridge and "<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">birthday</span>" is an <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">element</span> from the Cricut <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sweet Treats</span> cartridge. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">heart</span> was cut from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">card stock</span> from the<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> Peppermint Forest pack</span>.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fYjG0P-YTKQ/TxIdxkkhYTI/AAAAAAAAAsI/33DAhcNy7p8/s1600/IMG_6325.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fYjG0P-YTKQ/TxIdxkkhYTI/AAAAAAAAAsI/33DAhcNy7p8/s320/IMG_6325.jpg" width="215" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">front</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"> I wanted the inside of the card to have a surprise, so that is where the snow globe image can be seen. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> is my own, done in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Print Shop</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">fonts</span> are <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">LD dabble from Lettering Delights</span>, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Kauffman</span> (the script) and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">wm Christmas3</span> for the skating penguin. My DS elf <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">embossed</span> the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">snowflakes</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">corner rounded</span> the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span>, as well as spraying the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">image</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Crafter's Companion Spray & Sparkle Iridescent glitter varnish</span> (gotta love him ;- ) The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">image</span> and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> are both from <a href="http://meljensdesignsdt.blogspot.com/" target="_blank"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Meljen Designs</span></a> and were <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">colored</span> in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Photoshop</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">pattern paper</span> is a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">digital paper</span> from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Bits and Bobs</span> and is part of a <a href="http://scrappingbits.blogspot.com/2011/11/new-kit-and-freebie.html" target="_blank"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">free sampler</span></a>. I'm giving you the direct link to the free sampler I used, but here is a warning: I found the sampler from a direct link and when looking for it, for this post I found that this site does have kits that link to adult content (there is a warning), so you might want to be prepared or just go to the direct link, if you are interested in the paper and the matching embellishments. So you've been warned!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RXvu1RRCVGQ/TvWJqK1bToI/AAAAAAAAAro/hwk7IoTb0VA/s1600/IMG_6230.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RXvu1RRCVGQ/TvWJqK1bToI/AAAAAAAAAro/hwk7IoTb0VA/s320/IMG_6230.jpg" width="240" /></a></div> <br />
I didn't take a photo of all 40, because there was no place to set them all up ;- ) At this point, I decided to diverge from my usual path, and just stamp on the inside with out adding any other paper (need to be quicker and simpler.) The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiments</span> are from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Clear Dollar Stamps's Christmas Blessings</span> and were <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">embossed</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">holographic embossing powder</span>. Now here are some stamping tips:<br />
1) You will get ink on your fingers every time you touch the stamp block or stamp pad<br />
2) Ink that doesn't wipe off will always come off on white cardstock when you touch it >.< <br />
3) you should totally wash your hands with soap & water and wipe the stamps every 4-5 cards (not really moving fast, but very important!<br />
4) A damp cloth to wipe your fingers with after touching the stamp &/or stamp pad will keep down finger smudges on your cards<br />
5) ink smudges are a naturally occurring phenomenon on cards and only add to the beauty and value of your card (just like those tags on clothes)<br />
6) forget perfectionism or you will never finish ;- )<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Sy10vUhIlNw/TvWM-htMkgI/AAAAAAAAAr0/AOj9Rz15dUA/s1600/IMG_6229.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Sy10vUhIlNw/TvWM-htMkgI/AAAAAAAAAr0/AOj9Rz15dUA/s320/IMG_6229.jpg" width="226" /></a></div><br />
Yes, of course, I showed you the best one. I'll be entering this in Stamping With the Dragon's challenge which has anything to do with snow. Thanks for coming by. I hope you and your family have the most Blessed of Christmases. Please leave a comment before you go. I really love to hear from you!<br />

Should have my Christmas cards done and ready to post soon, very soon. Thanks for stopping by ;- )</div>Debbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07057595778538598247noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2196243810043152490.post-69713238099760992712011-12-17T19:51:00.001-06:002011-12-20T11:28:35.340-06:00Elves have been sighted ;- )<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> Elves have been getting busy. One is working on the tree and the college elf has been spraying glitter for the Christmas cards and has learned to use a corner rounder ;- ) Amazing growth, that college brings, ha ha. However, today's item, is still not our Christmas card. Instead, it is a square tag that I made using the image from the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Freebie Challenge</span> at <a href="http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/cfc/forum/topics/creative-freebie-challenge-dec-4-17" target="_blank">The Outlaws</a> due, surprise, today!<br />
<br />
The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">image</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Anne's Digital Design</span> by <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Anne Fenton</span>. You can find her blog <a href="http://annescards4u.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">here</a>, where she often offers some great <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">freebies</span>. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">colored</span> it <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">digitally</span> in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">PhotoShop</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">red cardstock</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Core'dinattions</span> and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">pattern paper</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">DCWV Holiday Christmas Stack</span>. I just happened to pick up the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">ribbon</span> this week from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Michael's</span> this week, on sale. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Inkadinkado</span> and I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">embossed</span> it with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Kaleidoscope</span> embossing powder. I went over the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sign</span> with a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">glitter gel pen</span> and added <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Diamond Glaze</span> to the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">berries</span> (it appears it's not dry >.<) A nice, very simple tag, where you can put the To: and From: info on the back.<br />
<br />

I'd like to go back to cutting down our tree next year. Just shopping for it, as we have the past couple of years (partly due to the surgeries) causes us to go out for it later and the pickings are slimmer and I don't get to enjoy looking at it as much. Hope your holiday preparations are coming along on schedule. Thanks for taking the time to stop by. Please leave a comment before you dash off. I really appreciate them. Have a holly, jolly weekend ;- )</div>Debbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07057595778538598247noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2196243810043152490.post-18034275163782067672011-12-14T21:26:00.001-06:002011-12-17T19:52:15.661-06:00Still no elves in sight, but here is a card ;- )<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> Today's card uses the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">image</span> for the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Progressive Challenge</span> at the <a href="http://priscillastyles.ning.com/group/cdac-progressive-freebie-challenges#?=" target="_blank">Crafter's Digital Art Center</a>. The image is by <a href="http://doodlepantry.com/" target="_blank"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Doodle Pantry</span></a>. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">colored</span> it <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">digitally</span> in <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">PhotoShop</span>. I've been thinking I will do a tutorial on coloring images in PhotoShop some time soon. Maybe after the holidays, if people are interested ;- ) The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">font</span> I used for the sentiment is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">LD Leaves</span> from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Lettering Delights</span>. I have an affiliate link to their site on the side bar to the right. I plan on completing the card as a gift card holder inside, as soon as I decide to whom it is going and have purchased the gift card. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">papers</span> are <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">DCWV's Lemon Flower Stack</span>. Love the glittery paper in this stack ;- ) The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">flower</span> in her hair, is a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">button</span> I picked up at <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">JoAnn's</span>.<br />

<br />
Well, this is a short one because I, like all of you, am busy with Christmas stuff and am trying to make Christmas cards (a first time for me and... HAPPY DANCE... my son finish his finals tomorrow, so is coming home from college, Yipppeee!<br />
<br />
Thanks for flying by during all you holiday preparations. Please leave a comment before you go, they really mean so much to me. Have a super creative rest of the week!</div>Debbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07057595778538598247noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2196243810043152490.post-51717085616512127092011-12-09T23:41:00.001-06:002011-12-10T00:29:29.762-06:0014 tags and the Cookies are on the Way for Finals! Also Freebie links!<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> Well, you're probably wondering were I've been. the party's over and no word from me. I did also have a birthday this week and then I heard then some of my college students were on their way home this weekend!!! Yikes! The cookies haven't gone out, what is happening with this thing called time? Now I don't know what is happen to the college system, but it seems some of them just had to write mostly papers, instead of actually taking finals. What's with that. Don't they know it takes me time to make the 14 tags and mail the cookies? It takes days just to go over all of the possibilities of things that could be used on a tag!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div> I finally narrowed it down to cutting the front of the tag with the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Cricut's Christmas Cheer</span> cartridge using the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Joy tag</span>. I used <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Design Studio</span> to size it and lay it out with 3 tags on an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of cardstock. Seemed like a good idea, until I went to cut the solid back and Design Studio can't hide the cuts (contours) of the word JOY to make a solid tag, so I had to do the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">backs</span> with the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Gypsy</span> and due to the way the one program allows you to do the size verses the other, the backs are just a bit smaller. Should have used the Gypsy for both parts. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Baby Jesus in the manger</span> is an <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">SVG</span> purchased from <a href="http://svgcuts.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3&sort=20a&page=3"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Svgcuts.com</span></a> and is part of the set <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">O Holy Night </span>and cut it with<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> Sure Cuts A Lot</span>. You can find the link on my sidebar. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> is a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">digital image</span> from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Meljen's Designs </span>that I got as a freebie. You can find her images <a href="http://shop.meljensdesigns.com/main.sc">here</a>. She usually has freebies on Mondays. The<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> red paper</span> is a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">digital paper</span> freebie from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Papercraft Inspirations Issue 94 (online)</span>. Go <a href="http://papercraftinspirations.themakingspot.com/">here</a> and the click downloads to check out all of their goodies ;- ) Are you beginning to see a bit of a trend, ha ha. I love freebies! The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">green paper</span>, between the front and back tag is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sue at PSP Crafting Gallery</span>. You can find her freebies and those of some others <a href="http://pspcraftinggallery.blogspot.com/">here</a>. The final freebie is the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">ticket</span>, which is a Member freebie (membership is free), from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Crafter's Companion on the UK</span> site, <a href="http://www.crafterscompanion.co.uk/">here</a>. It's part of the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Nov. set</span>. The digital freebies include papers, digital ribbons, tags, buttons and other elements all designed to go together. There is a new set every month. Most of the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">tag</span> was <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">embossed</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sizzix's Snowflake folder </span>from the Christmas set (thanks hubby for helping out!) Yes, my DH know how to run the Big Kick ;- ) Everything was <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">inked</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">distress inks</span> to make them pop a bit and there is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">glitter pen</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">white gel pen </span>on the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">holly berries</span>.<br />

On the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">back</span>, the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">gold metallic embossed sentiment</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Hero Arts</span> and the rest is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">inked</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Fired Brick</span> distress ink. It would have been done yesterday, except for needing to let the glitter glue dry. Then today, a piece went missing :- <span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Trebuchet MS', sans-serif;">p </span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Times, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Kind of figures, doesn't it ;- ) So after searching for way too long, I remembered that the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">DCWV Christmas Stack</span> (which all of the papers are from) has another sheet with the element on it and just re-did it. The image is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sandi Huggett</span> and you can find Sandi's work at<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> Sandi's Samples</span> <a href="http://sandisamples.blogspot.com/p/digi-by-sandi.html" target="_blank">here</a>. I used <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Diamond Stickles</span> on the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">candy canes</span>, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sparkly Fluff</span> on the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">top, heel and toe</span> of the stocking, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Perfect Pearls on the body</span> of the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">stocking</span>. I applied a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">line</span> of <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Crayola Pip</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Squeak glitter</span> on the line <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">between</span> the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">papers</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">glitter gel pen</span> to the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">gift box</span> that was cut out from the DCWV paper. There is also <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">white gel pen</span> added to the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">NOEL</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">stocking image</span> was printed twice and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">popped up</span>. I'm not sure whose the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">holographic snowflakes</span> are, because the company name is cut off of the package > . ></span><br />

</span></div>Debbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07057595778538598247noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2196243810043152490.post-13574719600138268582011-11-28T23:04:00.003-06:002011-12-03T00:01:07.881-06:00I think I'm ahead, only to find I'm behind ;- (<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"> I started out thinking I was doing so well. I had finished a tag for the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Progressive Challenge</span> at <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Crafter's Digital Art Center</span> on Saturday, but it was dark when I took the photo and I never got one taken on Sunday and by the time we got back from taking my son back to college, I was too tired to post, so I just figured I re-take the photo during the day today. Still, it isn't due until the 30th and I was done on the 26th and could have gotten it there if I had to. Such an accomplishment. That along with finishing my Aunt's card, mailing her gift and working like crazy on the house, because we have a huge Christmas party coming up on Sat. and my hubby is still recuperating and can't lift over 15 lbs. (How heavy are your Christmas boxes? Mine are a lot heavier than 15 lbs.) Now, I know my neighbor just had a death in the family and that will be 3 cards to make, but I have a bit of a grace period on that, so I think I'm doing pretty good and then.... I remember, just before writing this, that today is the anniversary of some dear friends of ours, so dear that they are coming all the way from Kansas to the Christmas party (Kansas City to Chicago is a looonnng way for 1 evening's visit.) Not only that, tomorrow is another friend's daughter's birthday. I didn't miss the birthdays of either of her sisters :-0 Wait .... what happened, everything was going so well? Maybe this is why the tag is done early!!! and my house is partial decorated!!! and my family room has been dusted!!!<br />
<br />
The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">tag</span> uses an<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> image</span> by <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Tracy</span> from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sugar Creek Hollow</span> and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">challenge</span> and info on it can be found <a href="http://priscillastyles.ning.com/group/cdac-progressive-freebie-challenges#?=" target="_blank">here</a>. She reminded me of a partridge. I <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">colored</span> her <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">digitally</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">printed</span> her <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">twice</span>, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">cutting</span> off her <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">tail</span>, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">legs</span> and<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> top feathers</span> for the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">top image</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">top image</span> was <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">edged</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Zig Gold Painty marker </span>and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sprayed</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">C</span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">rafter's Companion's Iridescent spray</span>, which of course doesn't photograph well. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">tail</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">top feathers</span> on the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">bottom layer</span> are actually <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">inked</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Distress Inks</span>. I hadn't colored them because I didn't know I was going to cut it out like that until I did ;- ) The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">pattern papers</span> are both <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">freebie</span> papers from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Papercraft Inspirations</span>. They have lots of great freebies. check out there site <a href="http://papercraftinspirations.themakingspot.com/" target="_blank">here</a>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">tree</span> came from<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;"> issue 91</span> and is called <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Crafty Orchard</span> and the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">music paper</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">issue 93</span> and is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">All Join In</span>. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">golden yellow cardstock is Core'dinations</span> and it was <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">embossed</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Birds and Swirls</span> by Cuttlebug. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sentiment</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Clear Dollar Stamps</span> and was <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">sprayed</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Yellow Daisy Glimmer Mist</span>. My favorite part is the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">ribbon</span>, which you can barely see. It's very shimmery and silky. I was inspired to do a tag by <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sue </span>at <a href="http://scrumplescrunch.blogspot.com/">http://scrumplescrunch.blogspot.com/</a> who was doing the 12 tags of Christmas Challenge. Now she is in a class way beyond me, but that's where inspiration comes from ;- )<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HwSYUSpEpps/TtRZT-RpY7I/AAAAAAAAAos/wYJQc38bi6s/s1600/IMG_6102.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-HwSYUSpEpps/TtRZT-RpY7I/AAAAAAAAAos/wYJQc38bi6s/s320/IMG_6102.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><br />
Now on to my Aunt's card. I'll re-fresh your memory with the outside photo, but you can go <a href="http://beginner-cards-and-creativity.blogspot.com/2011/10/sweet-birthday.html" target="_blank">here</a> for the info on it. I just wanted to show you how I finished off the inside.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FJnISQiHLP4/TtRiHXlK6PI/AAAAAAAAApc/AUoHv62-CWU/s1600/IMG_5974.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FJnISQiHLP4/TtRiHXlK6PI/AAAAAAAAApc/AUoHv62-CWU/s320/IMG_5974.jpg" width="277" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q4J8DNQ2Bwg/TtRZdknZZrI/AAAAAAAAAo0/vLm7F8dQy-E/s1600/IMG_6107.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Q4J8DNQ2Bwg/TtRZdknZZrI/AAAAAAAAAo0/vLm7F8dQy-E/s320/IMG_6107.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">stamped</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">embossed</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">image</span> at the top is actually an unmounted stamp. I wanted to give a tip that to use one, that you hadn't gotten around to mounting (I'm not sure that ever has happened to anyone ;- ), but you can use re-possionable adhesive on the mounting block to attach the stamp. That stamp was a gift with purchase and isn't marked so I don't know whose it is. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Happy Birthday</span> is from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Scrappy</span> <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Cat</span>. After I took the picture, I added a gift stamped with blue chalk ink in the huge white space. The <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">gingerbread men</span> were <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">colored</span> over with a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">glitter gel pen</span>.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> And finally, (I know you thought this would go on forever and it's not over yet) here are a few photos of the gift I sent my Aunt. We found this at a craft fair in Sept. and this artist had so many lovely pieces in a huge variety of sizes. This is made of clay and the petals are very soft. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />

I had planned on <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">coloring</span> it non-digitally, but with the short time, <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">digital</span> it is. I used a <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">pattern</span> on the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">top</span> of the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">stocking</span> to give it a more fuzzy feel. The wonderful <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">image</span> is by <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sandi Huggett</span>. The papers are from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">K &Companies Peppermint Twist Specialty papers</span> from last Christmas and some cream cardstock I had on hand which was <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">embossed</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">snowflakes</span> from the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Sizzix Christmas folder</span> set from last year. The top of the <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">stocking</span> is <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">stamped</span> with a stamp by <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Inkadinkadoo</span> from <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Christmas Wishes</span> and <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">embossed</span> with <span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #f6b26b;">Kaleidoscope powder</span>. The inside of the card is unfinished, because I'm not sure who I'm going to send it to or if it will be a birthday card. I embellished the pink border snowflakes with Viva Decor Pearl pens. Sorry, for the poor quality on the photo, but I ran out of daylight :- ( You should come and join us at <a href="http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/cfc/forum">The Outlawz</a>!<br />

I also went to Archiver on Fri, before going to get my son from college, and made their Make-N-Take. I ended up rushing home, hoping that I wouldn't get all of the glitter all over the car >. > then the photo ornament might show my photo at my memorial service, if my hubby found red glitter glue all over the seats. Ha Ha! Here is a photo of the tag. Of course, every time I touched them, I had glitter glue on me!<br />

The photo ornament photo didn't turn out well, so I'll try to re-take it and post it another time (must have been all of the glitter.) Thanks for stopping by and please, leave a comment before you move on. I really love to hear from you. Have a blessed Sunday!</div>Debbiehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07057595778538598247noreply@blogger.com8
